Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine: Campus Tour

The Activities Center

The Activities Center is a 55,000-square-foot facility that opened in 1999. The center is available to PCOM students, employees and staff; guests may also be admitted into the facility for a fee. In addition, the center serves as the official practice site of the National Basketball Association Philadelphia 76ers.

The center is equipped with cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, upright and recumbent bicycles, elliptical trainers and stair-steppers. In addition, there is a variety of strength training equipment and free weights, all of which are designed to help keep the PCOM community in top-notch condition. There is an exercise studio where fitness classes are taught.

The center includes a recreation/game room area with pool tables, foosball and ping-pong. There is a roof-level multi-sport deck suitable for deck hockey, basketball and shuffleboard, along with several outdoor tables, benches and lounge chairs for relaxing and enjoying a skyline view of the city of Philadelphia. In addition, the campus has a grass field area that is surrounded by a cinder track.

Intramural leagues are part of the Activities Center's mission. These sports include deck hockey, basketball, dodgeball and flag football. PCOM Club Teams compete in local leagues that have included soccer, rugby and volleyball. These sports are facilitated through the PCOM Athletic and Recreation staff. Each staff member is collegiately educated and affiliated with national fitness organizations. They are available to assist the PCOM community with all of its fitness, athletic and recreational needs.
